| MEET POLISH ARTIST - GOSHKA MACUGA |

On 25 August at 19:00, the Office for Contemporary Art Norway presents a conversation between current ISP resident Goshka Macuga and Juan A. Gaitán, Senior Curator at Witte de With, Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. They will discuss three major projects by Macuga, 'The Nature of the Beast' (2009-10), 'I Am Become Death' (2009) and 'Plus Ultra' (2009). All three projects approach historical objects and documents by creating complex networks of reference, and constitute poignant reminders of the profound relation between aesthetics and politics.

| SCHOLA CANTORUM GEDANENSIS - CONCERTS IN NORWAY |

The Polish Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum Gedanensis with conductor Jan Łukaszewski will perform in Trondheim during St Olav Festival (Olavsfestdagene: http://www.olavsfestdagene.no/2010/no/). Addition concert will take place in Oslo on Saturday 31st July 2010 at 20.30 at the St Olav Church (Akersveien 1, 0177 Oslo). During the Oslo concert compositions of Edvard Grieg, Krzysztof Penderecki, Wacław of Szamotuły, Thomas Jennefelt and Andrzej Hakenberger will be presented. Concert in St Olav Church is open for the public free of charge.

| EXHIBITION "ON THE PATHS OF THE SOUL. GUSTAV VIGELAND AND POLISH SCULPTURE AROUND 1900" |

This summer’s exhibition at the Vigeland Museum presents works by the then young and unknown Gustav Vigeland, together with works by some of his Polish contemporaries. The exhibition gives the public a unique opportunity to see Vigeland’s works in a new context, and presents a hitherto unknown connection between Vigeland and Polish sculpture around 1900. Exhibition will be opened by the Polish Ambassador on 3.june 2010 at 19.00. Welcome to the opening!

| POLISH GROTESKA THEATER AT THE FRIFIGUR FESTIVAL |

During the Norwegian theater festival FRI FIGURE which takes place in Oslo between 5 -9 May 2010, Groteska Theater from Krakow will present the spectacle ‘Hommage a Chagall’. Thanks to the cooperation within the framework of the Cultural Exchange Fund, the play will be presented twice on the festival stage of the Riksteater in Oslo. The play was inspired by the life and work of Marc Chagall and tells about painter’s great love to his wife, Bella Rosenfeld. The story of a feeling was put in the context of the historical events of the twentieth century, presented metaphorically as an apocalypse.

| PRESIDENTIAL PLANE CRASH |

In the morning hours of April 10th 2010, on the way to the commemoration ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyń Massacre the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński was killed in a plane crash along with the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska, many senior state officials, members of the Polish delegation and the plane crew.

| POLISH MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS GIVING LECTURE IN OSLO |

Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski will give a lecture “"Euroatlantic security architecture – Poland’s contributions and expectations" during his 1-day visit to Oslo. The lecture will take place at the Norwegian Nobel Institute on Friday April 9, 2010 at 14.30-15.30.

| CHOPIN 2010: CHOPIN BIRTHDAY CONCERT |

In cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo the 200.anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s birthday will be celebrated with a concert ”Hommage à Chopin”. Concert will take place on 1 March 2010 at 19.00 at Levin Hall of the NAM. Chopin’s composition will be played by the pianists from Norwegian Academy of Music: Josephine Hsieh, Joakim Anselmby, Natalia Strelchenko og Jens Harald Bratlie. Short film about composer’s life will also be screened.

| CHOPIN 2010: CONCERT IN ARENDAL |

The Old City Hall in Arendal hosted a concert of Chopin music on Friday 19 february 2010. The music of famous Polish composer was played by the Polish pianist Malgorzata Jaworska. M. Jaworska studied at the Academy of Music in Cracow, but have lived in Arendal since 1984. She is also a member of the Honorary Committee of the Chopin Year Celebrations in Norway.

| CHOPIN 2010: CONCERT "TRIBUTE TO CHOPIN" |

The Chopin Year has been inaugurated in Oslo with a special concert “Tribute to Chopin” arranged on the 1 February 2010 at the Embassy. Chopin music has been played by extremely talented students of the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo: Christian Grøvlen, Elsine Haugstad, Gaute Bech, Berit Billingsø, Ingunn Tennøe, Sofia Rentzhog , Maria Brabrand, Karoline Barbøl, Miki Ambo, Ole Christian Haagenrud.

| CHOPIN 2010: CHOPIN UNDER THE ARCTIC SKY |

Marking the bicentenary of Fryderyk Chopin's birth, at the turn of January and February 2010, the Norwegian town of Tromsø will resound with the composer's music during the Arctic Frontiers Conference and the Northern Lights Festival. The programme of the festival includes no less than seven Chopin concerts. Minister Monika Smoleń,Under-Secretary of State of the MInistry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland will open the festival in Tromsø

Among the films presented during this year Bergen International Film Festival (21-28 October 2009), a Polish production from 2008 appears – “Scratch” (Polish title: Rysa; Norwegian title: ”Vårt eget liv”) dir. Michał Rosa. Film is presented in the series: The Fall of the Iron Curtain.
